Figuring it all out

There isn’t a roadmap for doing this type of trip, and although we have family members who live in France and Portugal, from whom we could ask about their planning, we wanted to meet people who may have moved to Thailand. Gary looked to his classmates, and I looked to my sorority sisters and the P&G Retiree network. With those last two, we struck gold.
Adrienne is a sorority sister that I met last year while working on the “Leaves of Wisdom” book with the International Spiritual Committee. She introduced us to the private “Brothers and Sistahs of Thailand” Facebook group she moderates. It is created for African Ancestry men and women who live and work in Thailand. Gary joined that group and has found it quite helpful.
Nigel and Harold were two of my current chapter members, brother and cousin, respectively. Nigel teaches school and first shared with us his experience getting settled. Harold has been living there for years and is 70 years young. He shared with us his experience living in Pattaya.
Tom is a P&G retiree. He shared his experience as an expat living in Chiang Mai, Thailand (where Gary wanted us to live). He and his wife have been going back and forth for 25 years. For the last ten years, they have spent 6 months in the country.
